Sierra is now ISO 42001 and ISO 27001 certified

Businesses are now using AI agents to represent their brands at every stage of the customer journey—from product discovery and purchase to onboarding, subscription management, technical support, loyalty programs, and more.

That creates upside: better, more human customer experiences at lower costs. And guardrails matter to manage risk when agents handle sensitive data and make decisions on their own.

That’s why we’ve worked hard to ensure every part of Sierra’s platform is enterprise-ready, secure, and responsible by design.

Why the combination matters

We’re excited to share that Sierra is now certified by an accredited certification body to both:

  • ISO 27001: the global standard for information security management. This provides independent validation that our platform is secure: data is encrypted, access is controlled, and risks most commonly associated with cybersecurity threats are actively governed.
  • ISO 42001: the first AI-specific management standard. This validates that our platform is responsible: the models are evaluated, AI impact is assessed, agent decisions are traceable, and oversight is continuous.

The combination of these international standards into what is referred to as an integrated management system (IMS) matters. Imagine a healthcare agent helping a patient refill a prescription, or a financial services agent helping set up a wire transfer:

  • ISO 27001 ensures that customer data is protected.
  • ISO 42001 ensures the AI agent acts in ways that are grounded and explainable.

A platform built for trust

These certificate awards and decisions from an impartial, accredited management systems certification body validate how Sierra has always operated:

  • Secure agent development: Agents built on Sierra are designed, tested, and evaluated with security, privacy, and responsible AI at their core.
  • Guaranteed predictability when needed: For sensitive actions like system access or record updates, Sierra supports absolute determinism—critical in regulated industries, or policy-bound workflows.
  • Continuous oversight and monitoring: Behind every agent are supervisory agents, monitoring for quality and issues like topic drift or inconsistent logic. Built-in analytics and insights flag issues early, helping teams act fast.
  • Data autonomy: Customers retain control over their data—where it lives, how it’s used, and when it is deleted.

As AI takes on more responsibility, accredited certifications like ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 matter more than ever. They validate not just how Sierra protects your systems and data—but how we manage AI itself.
